Guitar

The guitar is chordophone (stringed musical instrument) with a neck. Classified as a "short lute", the guitar is distinguished from other members of this family (the lute proper, mandolin, etc.) by its that back, incurving sides, and flat peg disc with rear tuning pegs. The modern guitar has six strings, the upper three are made of gut or nylon, the lower three are made of silk over spun with metal - or all may be of metal. The string are stretched over a fingerboard on the neck is attached the peg disc, or "tuning head", which is fitted with mechanical tuning pins. The body is composed of a spruce sound board and parallel hardwood back separated by curved hardwood ribs. A circular sound hole pierces the sound board between the end of the fingerboard and the bridge to which the string are fastened. Guitars are traditionally played with a plectrum. The standard-sized modern guitar is approximately 90 cm (3 ft) in overall length and is actually the bass member of a complete choir of variously sized instrument that are still use in Spain.

During the early 19th century in Spain the guitar underwent a transformation that include the adoption of six single strings. Antonio de Tores Jurado (1817 - 92) is credited with consolidating this and other modifications to create the swiftly voice, modern classical guitar, as well as with establishing the modern form of the flamenco guitar with its smaller, lighter body and more brilliant sound.

In the United States in the early 20th century, the steel-strung guitar with its greater volume and "twangier" sound come to be preferred as the favorite popular instrument. The "flat-top" guitar developed by Orville Gibson, with its violin type arched soundboard, was particularly popular in bands and orchestras of the 1920s and 1930s.

As the developed in the 1930s and 40s, the electric guitar was a steel-strung acoustic guitar with an electromagnetic pick-up connected to an electronic amplification system. The solid body electric guitar with its limitless volume and great sustaining power, became increasingly popular in the 1950s and 60s with the advent of rock music.

Mozart

Mozart History

His complete name is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, look to the name this is similar to the group of wild animals but full of freedom. He is the greatest genius in Western musical history, he was born in Salzburg, Austria, January 27, 1756, the son of Leopold Mozart and his wife, Anna Maria Perl. Leopold was a successful composer and violinist and assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg court.

Wolgang began composing minuets at the age of 5 and symphonies at 9. When he was 6, he and his older sister, Maria Anna (known as Nannerl), embarked on a series of concert tours to Europe's Courts and major cities. Both children played the keyboard, but Wolfgang became a violin virtuoso as well. In 8 years old, Wolfgang wrote his first symphonies and was befriended by Johan Christian Batch, whose musical influence on Wolfgang was profound. Between 1769 and 1772, Leopold and Wolfgang undertook three tours to Italy.

When he return to Salzburg, Mozart was given the position of court organist (1779) and produce a splendid series of church works, including the famous "Coronation" Mass. He was commissioned to compose a new opera for Munich, Indomeneo (1781), which proved that he was a consummate master of opera seria. He was summoned by von Colloredo to Vienna opera in 1781 and after a series of violent argument was dismissed.

Final Years

Mozart fame began to wane after Figaro. The nobility and court grew increasingly nervous about his revolution ideas as exemplified in Figaro. He sank into debt and was assisted by a brother Freemason, Michael Puchberg (Mozart had joined the Masons in 1784 and remained as ardent member until his death). His greatest operatic success after Figaro was Don Giovanni (1787), composed for Prague, where Mozart's art was especially appreciated.

Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935 and dead on August 16, 1977. Although he did not invent rock 'n roll, he did more than anyone to popularize it, and he was rock's most powerful performer. From the mid attitude – a combination of sex and sneer made the "King" an international hero of the young.

Presley's began with his recording of the blues song "That's All Right, Mama," written by the black singer Arthur Crudup. Pressley's rendition combined his potent, shouted vocal style with a fast , hard, country and western music instrumental backing. It won considerable attention and eventually a recording contract with RCA Victor. With national promotion, Presley's subsequent recording became instant hits: "Don't be Cruel," "Love Me Tender," and "All Shock Up." His concert and television appearances drew huge audiences, and his 33 movies, which were minor films at best, increased his fame.

He is the biggest star and the person most responsible for its emergence in the 1950s as both a musical and a wider cultural phenomenon. Presley sold more top-ten hits (39), and had more gold record (28 – each significant sales in excess of 1 million) than any individual or group in history.

Even after his dead, Presley's cult continuous, and buried, has become a place of pilgrimage. Elvis’ musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night gospel sings he frequently attended, and the black R&B he absorbed on historic Beale Street as a Memphis teenager. In 1954, he began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis. In late 1955, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation. With a sound and style that uniquely combined his diverse musical influences and blurred and challenged the social and racial barriers of the time, he ushered in a whole new era of American music and popular culture.

He starred in 33 successful films, made history with his television appearances and specials, and knew great acclaim through his many, often record-breaking, live concert performances on tour and in Las Vegas. Globally, he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. His American sales have earned him gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards for 150 different albums and singles, far more than any other artist. Among his many awards and accolades were 14 Grammy nominations (3 wins) from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, which he received at age 36, and his being named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970 by the United States Jaycees. Without any of the special privileges his celebrity status might have afforded him, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and good humor endeared him to millions, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known the world over by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture. Elvis died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977.
